As you sing along to Mariah Carey’s “Last christmas”  and meditate on its meaning, there are many family friendly christmas films to get you all into your feels and supplement your joy this season. If you go through the holidays without watching at least one of these films, you might just be the Grinch…

Home alone.  Even if you have watched this one, you need to rewatch it for good old times sake. It is about an eight-year-old Kevin who is accidentally left behind when his family leaves for France. At first, he is happy to be in charge, but when thieves try to break into his home, he tries to put up a fight.

The polar express. It tells the story of a young boy who, on Christmas Eve, sees a mysterious train bound for the North Pole stop outside his window and is invited aboard by its conductor. The boy joins several other children as they embark on a journey to visit Santa Claus preparing for Christmas.

How the grinch stole Christmas. This movie tells the story of a Christmas-hating Grinch who tries to steal Christmas from the Christmas-loving kids by taking all of their presents and decorations. But they and he come to realise that Christmas is in their hearts, not under their trees.

Love actually. This blockbuster explores the stories of nine individuals, including a prime minister, a married man, a guy suffering from unrequited love, a heartbroken writer, e.t.c. This is one of those you should watch just because of the story and it has one of the best dance scenes ever and the perfect airport farewell.

Klaus. This is an animated Christmas film whose plot centres on a postman located in an island town in the Far North who finds friendship with a reclusive toy maker, known as Klaus. It’s a truly beautiful film and won the award for Best Animated Film at the 73rd BAFTAS.

The holiday. The film sees two women (Cameron Diaz and Kate Winselt) swap homes for Christmas and find love and confidence. The cast also includes Jude Law and Jack Black and we couldn’t love it more. Truly a must watch!
