Girls Should Be Confident About Their Bodies – Doreen Kabareebe
Latest News | 2021-10-14
She is confident, she is elegant, she is smart and she is not afraid to show her body before flashing cameras during fashion expos. You probably know who we’re talking about even without saying the name – Doreen Kabareebe.
Doreen is a model, branding coach and philanthropist who studied at Wanyange Girls School for 6 years then proceeded to Nkumba University where she eventually graduates with a bachelor’s degree in public administration & management. Later, she got master’s degree in International relations & Diplomacy. The exceptional diva doubles with an international title (Miss Uganda World International) and will represent Uganda and E.A in Miami next year. She is currently running a charity organization under the name Kabareebe models for charity and a branding coach company where I brand talent, entrepreneurs and notables. She triples as a judge at Top Model Uganda and happens to mentor young girls and advise them as far as branding is concerned. From among these girls, the best model will represent Uganda in London soon at Top Model worldwide.
When MTN pulse asked her why she isn’t bothered by the cultural perception of modeling, Doreen said some bold words,
“Just wanting to change the narrative. We are over pulled back by cultural factors so we can’t showcase bikinis and not be criticized. I want that narrative to change, therefore I will continue taking such images because we have designers designing bikinis; so who will showcase them? Don’t forget art is art! All the kind of images I take have a story to tell.”
We asked her about the possibility of receiving a lot of negativity because of the path she has taken and she said that she is seldom bothered by negative opinion. Rather, she is trying to instil confidence in the young girls who are underestimated by society.
“It doesn’t matter who doesn’t like me, I’m not even a twin, meaning I came out alone, that’s if they will understand what I mean. Someone not liking me doesn’t bother me in anyway, I even don’t know them and they should remember that someone somewhere hates them too. Am only helping instil confidence in our women and teach them how to love their bodies. I believe every woman is beautiful. Well feel free to judge me, we will all die someday and be buried. As long as I love myself, I mind less about the narrative!”
Doreen advises young girls out there to love everything about themselves, their body, and intellect.
The famous model is proud of the fact that once she focuses on something, she must win!
If one road fails, she takes on another road but the dream remains the same and she doesn’t mind using 10,000 roads as long as the last one gets her to the dream then we good. Doreen Kabareebe does not give up!
These are her final words to the youth struggling with achieving their goals.
“Know who you are, stay focused and let no one talk you out of your dream. Do not fear failure, we learn from titrimetric, TRY AND KEEP TRYING UNTIL YOU FET TO THE PROMISED LAND.”
