Miss Uganda 2019 Oliver Nakakande Pledges to Build on Abenakyo’s Legacy

It is less than a week after a new Miss Uganda, Oliver Nakakande was crowned to carry our nation’s flag in this year’s Miss Universe Pageant and carry out activities to change society using the platform.

Nakakande, a Marketing student at Middlesex University in Dubai emerged winner out of 22 final contestants in the country’s biggest beauty pageant.

While speaking to the press, she pledged to help carry on the Miss Uganda good will legacy like all queens have done before and ensure to have something to be remembered for by the time her term expires next year.

Born in a family of six, Nakakande is currently in her education summer break which enabled her to be able to compete favourably here at home.

Her crowning was special because it is the first time a Miss Uganda winner wad crowned by a reigning Miss Africa (Quinn Abenakyo) and Miss World (Vanessa Ponce De Leon).

It was also the first time that Miss Uganda was bankrolled by MTN Uganda for the success of the event.

Elizabeth Bagaya and Mariam Nyamate emerged first and second runners up respectively at the event that was graced by Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga as the Chief Guest.
