Music Review: Bongo Meets UG on Follow Me By Sheebah and Harmonize

Their duo at the 2019 episode of Coke Studio was one of the most powerful in the House: with Tanzania’s fastest-rising star getting coupled up with Uganda’s biggest female artiste of current times, nothing short of that would be expected.

As Coke Studio norms go, they each did a cover for the other’s song, but what has now turned out to be the headline is the original collaboration they came up with. “Follow me”, an urban Afro Pop song appealing to their true lovers/fans to prove the love between them with actions, has received positive feedback from even the biggest critics of Sheebah and Harmonize music.

Crowned by a befitting video shot by Sasha Vybes, the song starts with Harmonize laying a foundation with an abstract intro, and a moving first verse, to which Sheebah retorted with a catchy hook, that Harmonize sang to in chorus. Sheebah let loose and embraced her colleague naturally to bring out true emotion in the passionate dance patterns between them, and the blending of Swahili, English and Luganda in the lyrics was the icing on the cake.

The song also has chord switches that lead to a soothing bridge, which was my most entertainment part in it. Also, the idea of infusing footage of past performances of them both to show the love they get from fans, was wise. Generally, it is a beautiful song both audibly and visually, and you can just double your daily data with MTN Dabolo and check it out on Tidal via the link below:
