Evelyn Byakuleka Asiimwe, a 23 year old recent graduate from Makerere University Business School (MUBS) is probably one of the youngest CEOs/Managers you’ll land on in our Country.

A graduate of Bachelor of Commerce (Finance), Ms. Asiimwe is running day to day affairs of the string of Evelyn Apartments in Kampala and Makerere University’s Douglas Villa Hostel, all of which are family businesses whose management she took over from her mother.

The visibly super smart young lady has actually been running Evelyn Apartments in particular since she was 16 years old and if you ask me, that’s really amazing.

“I started getting involved in these affairs when I was 13. My mom would give me tasks like taking newly admitted freshers to check out rooms at Douglas Villa and she’d pay me Shs. 10,000 per day. I loved the job and haven’t looked back since then.” Ms Asiimwe said.

The young Manager reveals that her mother took leave as soon as she finished her final exams and left her in charge of the business for six months. Albeit signaling that she had sent her to school to run family business appropriately.

“She just told me that she had taught me everything I needed and that it was time for her to rest (from the business affairs)”  Asiimwe further narrated.

Ms Asiimwe believes that young people hoping to start up businesses and making a living should never be constrained by funds because that is the least of worries for one to succeed.

She stresses that it doesn’t matter how much money one has but rather how he/she thinks and where they want to be.

“It’s not about how much money you have. It is about how you’re thinking about how to get where you want to be.” The young boss lady said.

She encouraged young people to keep feeding their minds with positive things and ignore every negative thing. She also appealed to the young people to trust in God and read the Bible because there’s a lot of wisdom in the Word.
