Damini Ogulu, most popularly known as Burna Boy was born on July 2nd 1991, in Port Hancourt Nigeria.
He is an Afro-fusion singer and songwriter having risen to fame in 2012 after the release of his lead single “Like to Party”.

Because he is in town for the #BurnaBoyXperienceKla, we felt as you go out today to enjoy his music and great energy, you need to know just a bit of his musical background.

“Like To Party”, the song that rose him to prominence was released as the lead single from his debut album L.I.F.E Critics however, believe it’s his video that ushered him to the limelight and we’ve got to agree that Burna Boy really takes time to invest in catchy music videos so clearly he got the memo.

On 24 September 2012, according to Wikipedia, Burna Boy released “Tonight” as the second single from L.I.F.E. for which he was to consequently release video in December of the same year. In the music video, Burna Boy expresses his innate feelings but doesn’t forget to do it in his usual style of energy and great instrumentals.

He left Aristokrat records in 2014 and in 2015, created his own record label called Spaceship Entertainment. This should shine light on his recent fans because surely you must have seen this in one of his videos.

The label was to later influence his second album “On a Spaceship” that he released on 25th November 2015. In September 2016, he released the 7-track EP titled Redemption, with the lead single “Pree Me” mashing up musical waves locally and abroad.

He has become a house hold name in the music world to the extent that in January 2018, he was featured on the track “Sunshine Riptide” that is from Fall Out Boy’s Grammy-nominated seventh studio album, MANIA.

His third studio album “Outside” of 2018 debuted at number three on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart.
The album’s biggest single “Ye” ended up atop most Nigerian publications year-end list as the biggest song of 2018 and Burna himself as the country’s biggest artiste of the year.

On 3rd January 2019, he was announced alongside fellow Nigerian artiste Mr Eazi, as one of the artists performing at the 2019 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.

The same year, he won four awards at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, including African Artiste of the Year, Listener’s Choice and Best Male MVP.
So, as you can see, the man is really worth all that hype and tonight as we go for his show, we’re expecting a performance worth all this accreditation and more.
