Pulse Hustle: Side Hustles that Have Excelled Amid Lockdown

Latest News | 2021-07-27

COVID-19 hit us hugely when it first came in 2020 and is still affecting our livelihood. There are lots of young people that had been earning a living in hustles like Uber Driving and in the Tourism sector (which although is now fully operational, has never been the same.)

Sometimes you sit at home and can’t even get your mind to think about what you can do to earn some money. Most of the ventures that could breathe in situations like this (lockdown) require loads of capital that not many young people can afford.

There are hustles that have almost gone through the times untouched. Hustles that are in fact, growing each day we spend with the coronavirus in our midst. Check these out;

Selling Products Online

You have seen many young people using their social media space to market their products and sell them online. Pulsers in the cake business, fashion – selling shoes and clothes, and even simple easy-to-start liquor store businesses have made profits selling online.

With platforms like Facebook, Amazon and E-Bay, some young people in outside countries are even buying products and selling them at a profit in a practice they call “flipping.” Can’t blame them. It is an eat or be eaten harsh world.

Social Media Management

If there is any business owner across the world that has not yet understood that to be relevant in these COVID-19 times and beyond they need to have a solid social media presence, send me to them. I have got  some presentations that can whip some business innovation into their heads.

Those that know what a gold mine social media is, understand that creating and sharing social media content on numerous platforms is time-consuming. Most small business owners are too busy to look after it themselves, so what to do?

They pay social media managers hundreds of dollars a month to look after their Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram channels. Duties vary but can include creating and sharing content, scheduling posts, and managing online communities, like Facebook groups.

Some of you have been doing this to grow your accounts at no pay. You can be paid for it, if you can promise to deliver.

Freelance Writing

The other hustle that the pandemic has not managed to slow down is content creation especially online. If you have a skill in creative writing, don’t sit at home and wonder where you can get some income. There are lots of opportunities for you online.

In fact, over 50% of the works you read online is written by freelance writers. What do you think what I am doing here with MTN is called?

Online content creators can earn upwards of up to $1000 per article depending on their niche, their experience level, and subject matter expertise. Survey a platform called Upwork for instance, and check out the various opportunities it provides.

Food Delivery

Although mostly taken up by the many out-of-work Boda Boda riders, food delivery is a decent job that you too can take up. But it needs a motor-bike to deliver efficiently.

This one is for all those at home with no side hustle and a bike that is mostly parked in their compound. Make use of it, and your days off to earn some money.

Once again, for emphasis, there is no decency required while chasing the bag. Walk in mud if you should, what matters is your MoMo account balance at the end of the day.

So what is it going to be? While you’re here, MTN and Jumia Uganda have discounts to shopping available for Pulsers on the MTN Pulse app. Run to the app today, download it off Google Play Store and the App Store if you don’t have it. You shouldn’t miss out on free things too.
