Have you ever taken a simple google search about the words “Ugandan writers”? Perhaps you got a very limited number of results, or didn’t you? The writing industry is slowly, but steadily growing over the years especially with the invention of the internet.

Today MTN Pulse brings you a very impressive young gentleman, Mayende Collins Israel, a very passionate writer from Uganda.
If there’s a special way to describe this interesting gentleman, it is an enthusiastic Writer and blogger born 30th September 1997 and currently attending his final year at Busitema university faculty of Science and Education pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and literature in English.

Israel spends a lot of his time creating and publishing free content for other people around the world using WordPress under the brand, “The MCI Torch” where he addresses many issues ranging from basic poetry to complex scrutiny of issues affecting society.

“Having grown up reading and watching a lot of books and movies, deep inside I always desired to also one day create such content, my own books, videos and articles to be read by the vast majority of people who like them.”, says Collins.
Sounds genius, doesn’t it? Well, you guessed it, he does have other hobbies too.

Firstly, the creative lad loves reading a number of novels especially Sci-fi, Adult novels such as the Fault in our stars by John Greene and he also loves watching football and playing chess though only on his smart phone.

One outstanding quality Collins possesses is humbleness, apart from the snow-white godliness and focus on his passion.
So, we asked him to comment on the writing sector in Uganda, and this was his comment.

“Currently the writing Industry is steadily improving and is starting to pay off unlike the past when few would real benefit. The coming of internet made it easier for writers all-over Uganda not only to easily publish but also reach a huge number of people via social media and blogs.”
Mayende’s advise to young people is simple, “FOCUS ON YOUR DREAMS!”
