Pulse Hustler: Meet Patience Ahumuza, Trend Setter and Digital Enthusiast

Latest News | 2021-04-13

If you are a frequent user of Twitter in Uganda, the name Patience Ahumuza is not new to you. Pesh, like many refer to her as has slowly taken on Uganda’s digital media as a feminist and but most of you could know her by her brilliant and inclusive trends that she normally starts on twitter.

Like the trends queen she is, she recently started a massive campaign that has got traction from people- young and old. By far her biggest campaign on Twitter, #UOTMarketPlace- is a campaign that runs every Monday and gives space/ a platform for Ugandans to advertise their businesses for free. The campaign has given opportunity to not only big businesses but especially small businesses and startups to expose themselves to millions of potential customers online.

Well, by now you should have an inkling that Pesh could be an influencer and yes, she is. However, just like many other people in the digital space, she didn’t start out as an influencer. The 25-year-old is a teacher of English and Literature by profession, however after getting into the digital space in 2017, a year later, she dropped teaching to focus on digital communications and business; a mine field if I should add.

When we asked her, what makes her stand out as an influencer, Pesh said,

“I believe in telling a story and not just selling a product. I used to be one of those influencers that post about something they’ve never used which is wrong. I have gotten to the point where if I am influencing for a skin care product, you’ll find it in my bag. I can’t talk about Shell today then post Total tomorrow. I will look confused.”

Aside from being an influencer, she is a content creator who also doubles as a social media manager for a number of businesses. On top of all that, she has an online shop called The Escentials that deals in oil perfumes and jewelry.

There is so much to learn from Pesh as a digital communications person, a feminist and as an entrepreneur as well. You can buy yourself a Pulse Data Bundle from the new MTN Pulse app and follow her on her socials.
