Pulse MCM: Conrad Johnson Wasike- Lawyer With a Jaw dropping fashion Sense
Latest News | 2021-02-08
Lawyers are believed to have a strong fashion sense because they’re dressed up in suits literally every day of their work life. However, some lawyers go an extra mile because when you see them walk past you, you see someone that understands fashion and that is precisely who Conrad is. We got up with him to delve a little into his life.

In a nutshell, briefly describe who Conrad is.
Conrad Johnson Wasike is a 23-year-old Ugandan male with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Makerere University and a current student of the bar at the Law Development Centre.
I describe myself as self-driven young man with great foresight. Simple in nature but with a strong enthusiasm for the finer things in life.
What was your inspiration to do law and what’s the journey been like so far?
My inspiration to do law was majorly attributed to a combination of my personality and my academic strength. I’ve always been one that loved speaking out (of course for the right reasons and not aimlessly) and then it turned out that I was really good with history and literature all subjects that pointed one to a legal career. On top of this, I did admire the pomp that came with the profession and the more I got into loving the career, the more research I did on numerous lawyers in town whose works to this day still impact on me.

Law just like any other journey is not one that’s been a walk in the park. There are challenges along the way but because of the love for the profession and my commitment, it’s been a really good journey. Made it out of law school with a good class of degree and an increased base for my social capital two things that I am extremely grateful for.
Describe your sense of style and the inspiration behind it.
I would like to describe my sense of style as extremely good with formal wear and fairly good for my casual wear. Extremely good with formal wear because my parents from childhood dressed me in suits most of the time so I grew to love formal wear.
I have always been into fashion and my inspiration when it comes to fashion is being classy. I always joke with my peers and say that if banks would accept closets as security for loans, I would gladly stake mine for loan.

I go the extra mile because you are definitely going to get addressed according to how you are dressed. So why not sell the best version of yourself without thinking twice.
It’s no wonder that you are one of the Ugandans promoting Hawes & Curtis locally, tell us about that
Hawes & Curtis is a luxury fashion brand in England that was started in 1913 by Ralph Hawes and George Fredrick Curtis.
My journey selling in Uganda on a small scale started in June 2019 while I visited a Hawes&Curtis store in Leeds. I entered as a customer but left with a strong conviction to start selling Hawes&Curtis in Uganda.

I did my homework and was lucky it paid off so I was finally able to get in touch with a contact at the Hawes&Curtis office in London. And on the 1st of February 2020, I started selling Hawes&Curtis locally. It’s now a year and I must say it’s been a worthwhile journey with great lessons and many more to come.
Conrad’s Plans for the next 10 years?
Career wise, I hope to be a high-flying advocate with at least two ground-breaking litigation decisions to my name and a few high profile commercial advisory transactions to my name as well.
Businesswise, I hope to expand my business portfolio with major emphasis on a sound supply chain business.
Family wise, I hope to be married with a daughter and hopefully another daughter on the way.
