Pulse MCM: Meet Rugby Star Emanzi Raymond
Latest News | 2019-05-06
When someone mentions rugby, the first thing that probably comes to your mind is a mugged guy with lots of injuries from playing the sport. You actually question why these guys are still playing the sport. Well, Emanzi Raymond is a final year student at Makerere University Business School and is also a rugby player with Black Pirates rugby club. He has been playing rugby from his S.1 when he was in St. Mary’s college Kisubi and he has gotten better at his game over the years.
In 2015 he doubled as MVP for his rugby team in SMACK and also played in the U19 national team in Zimbabwe. He joined the Black Pirates in December 2015 immediately after his high school. Since then, he has played with the team and won games like Uganda cup, National 7s tournament, Nile Special rugby league among many others. He also emerged player of the month in December 2018 for his club.
Aside from rugby, Raymond is also a good swimmer and in school he had to pick between swimming and rugby. He picked rugby because he was passionate about it and it was a challenge which he took up.
Of course like many parents, his were hesitant about him playing rugby but they have supported him throughout his journey in rugby. Raymond is also charming with handsome looks from Kabale. A rugby player with good looks might be a full packaged meal for many girls so ladies, shoot your shots!
Although the love for rugby is outstanding, Raymond still prioritizes his academics as they are something that cannot be compromised. Balancing books and rugby for him require a discipline of knowing what to do and at what time to do it something many pulsers may not have grasped. In the next couple of years, we hope to see him on the rise in the rugby world.
