Pulse Tech: Top Money Tracking Apps Pulsers Can Use

Latest News | 2021-07-20

These days, our lives revolve so much around our smartphones. We use them for everything ranging from communication and entertainment, to monitoring our fitness, health and of course finances.

There are so many apps out there that keep us abreast on how and what our money is being spent on. Whether you’re a business owner, a financial expert or just a regular consumer, these following apps are some of the best for the task at hand.

Clarity Money

Clarity Money is a financial app with both online and mobile interfaces available. However, on the phone, it stands out as a clear winner. This is thanks to its easy-to-navigate design, a wide range of accounts supported, and its fun card style in-app analysis that gives you highlights of your recent account activity, including spending, savings, and subscriptions.

One notable feature tracks your spending over time each month compared to your expected monthly income. The app also includes features to track and cancel subscriptions, plus automatically add to savings (through a Clarity Money account) on a regular basis.

Eversend

An award-winning Ugandan-owned Fintech startup, Eversend is one of the fast growing fintech companies in Africa operating in eight African countries; Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, and Uganda with plans to expand further.

The platform, a multi-currency e-wallet and a neobank for Africans, is a financial service marketplace giving users access to money exchanges & transfers, insurance, bill payments, loans, to mention few — through a mobile application or via USSD within and beyond Africa.

Wally

Wally is an integrated expense tracker app that provides insights into your spending habits by syncing with your financial accounts and using artificial intelligence. Wally has a big focus on expenses and presents feedback and useful information on your spending, but it also has a social feature for shared expenses. For example, if you share utilities with a roommate, Wally can track those expenses.

The appealing graphics and social features will be appreciated by millennial users. However, Wally is available only on iOS devices. Sorry, Android users.

Mint

Mint is one of the best known personal finance tools around. Mint is great because it is free, supports a wide range of banks and lenders, and comes from one of the largest and most trusted names in financial software, Intuit. With this app, you are receiving help with budgeting, expense tracking and utility bills.

However, while Mint is one of the oldest and most full-featured expense tracker app options, it isn’t perfect. There are a handful of bugs in the software, and new features have been slow to release since Intuit bought the app in 2009. And if you do find a bug or a problem in your account, getting customer support can sometimes be a challenge.

MTN MoMo Pay

We’ve saved the best for last. When using the MTN MoMo app, every feature can be easily accessed on the home screen and you do not need to memorize the different USSD codes involved. Just tap on the function you would like to use and get started. Not only can you send and receive money with the MTN MoMo app, you can pay for Yaka, data, voice & minute bundles, track your expenses history, among others. All these transactions have separate USSD codes and this can be stressful especially when the process times out. The app is fast, easy to use and does not require data to make transactions.
