If social media and entrepreneurship ever had a perfect coming together of minds, the result would be the industrious Ronah Asiimwe. The Bweranyangi Girls alumnus has claimed her spot at the top with some notable youth who have harnessed the power of social media for business and social transformation.

A graduate of Social Sciences from Makerere University, Ronah has sharpened her natural business acumen and used her social media prowess to challenge the status quo, earning her respect from her peers, and of course, a few shillings in the bag. Like most 90’s babies, Ronah’s first encounter with social media was through a Facebook account.

“I joined Facebook to connect with the world but when I joined Twitter I realized that social media can also be used for business.” The jovial but shy Ronah also advises pulsers who are new to social media, especially twitter to stay true to themselves and their content; “I grew my numbers through interaction with different people, not those things of ‘show me around’ and scandals” she giggles.

Her passion for social media, business and Rolex, yes, the one we eat; saw Ronah start her own business in the heart of Mbarara City.

“I started the Rolex Booth because of my love for the Rolex, the one we eat (as she laughs) and I saw an opportunity to start something clean and corporate in a virgin market like Mbarara City.” The Rolex Booth not only serves Uganda’s signature delicacy of eggs rolled in a Chapatti, which come in chicken, beef and vegetable, but the venue also serves a host of other items that can be found on the menus.

Ronah is also a wildlife photography enthusiast and she never shies away from sharing her passion with all and sundry. She notes that it is important to turn one’s passion into an occupation.

“When I’m not pushing my business on social media, I am sharing wildlife photography taken by Makoma Nation. It is a passion I’ve developed over time and I’m proud to share with the world what I get to enjoy everyday that’s why we have released a collection that comes at a small inconvenience to your wallet, but it is totally worth it.”

She also advises the Pulsers not to let their ideas sit around in their heads, they should do something about it.
