Social media has over the years evolved into a virtual business hub where clients can access commodities and services from the comfort of their home or workplace, and Cecilia Nabbanja is one of many business people that have harnessed the power of social media in that regard.

The 24 year old who works as a salesperson for KS Computer Solutions says her Twitter page, which has over 29,000 followers, has greatly increased her sales and the business in general. “At least 70% of the clients I get every day are through Twitter, either through my advertisements or a referral from someone else on Twitter.”

However, like many people who rely on social media for their daily bread, Cecilia admits that her business was affected by the recent countrywide internet shutdown that stretched from the evening of Wednesday 13th January to the morning of Monday 18th January 2021.

“The recent internet shutdown affected me to some extent. Quite a number of my clients use my socials to communicate with me and I lost out on some good business. For instance, I couldn’t  communicate with a client who needed a laptop worth Shs. 9 million. I also lost out on another client who wanted 3 laptops that cost up to Shs. 12 million. The situation left me a little depressed because I could’ve earned a good commission had those sales gone through.”

It’s not all gloom and doom, though, as Cecilia has big dreams of opening up her own computer sales business in the not-so-distant future. “I want to own a bigger, better and more organized gadget shop than the one in which I’m working right now”, she asserts.

When quizzed on how she managed to get so many followers on Twitter, the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) graduate said she learned to follow trends on the timeline relating to events going on in the country and the world at large, and that her ability to speak her mind on social media helped her get to where she is right now.

Because of her line of work, Cecilia likes to follow up on the latest tech trends and tech content creators on Twitter, YouTube, TikTok and other social media sites. She says it’s because of those personalities that she doesn’t have to gamble with explanations about specs and whatnot when trying to sell gadgets to her clients.

Regarding hobbies, Cecilia says she loves to travel, make new friends and watch movies in her spare time.

For Cecilia, her decision to join Twitter has been of great benefit. “I have no regrets about joining Twitter because I have made some good money that has helped me improve on my standards of living, and I’m now closer to my goal of opening up my own business.”

She also urges Pulsers to stay positive, be patient and be keen to learn more. “Strive regardless of the negative energy. Patience is the best thing in the entrepreneurial world and always seek advice from people whom you believe know better than you do in business.”

To catch up with Cecilia on twitter and other platforms, simply load a pulse data bundle by dialing *157# and get started.
