Oscar Nyesiga, a second year student at Makerere University, adds another year of style innovation and taking the Ugandan fashion industry by storm.

The founder and CEO of Oscar Kampala House of Suits says his dreams and aspirations will not waver even in the prevailing COVID-19 times. Quite too humble for what you’d expect of him, Oscar Kampala uses his business to fund his education and stay at Makerere, tuition, accommodation and food among other necessities.

Speaking to MTN Pulse, the young fashionpreneur said as long he is safe and his clients’ lives are not affected by the virus, there will always be a comeback.

“Fashion and people are inseparable. As long as we have life, we shall make fashion statements and my only message to Ugandans is keep safe. Preserve life and just wait for normalcy to return.” Oscar Kampala said.

Kampala’s Fashion House specializes in bespoke suits, a type of suits made to an individual buyer’s specifications by a tailor – in this case, Oscar Kampala. From Makerere University students going for finalist dinners to university students graduating, he has dressed them all.

“I do not deal in ready to wear suits so I don’t import suits. Bespoke suits are custom made suits from scratch to fit the desire of a customer. I import fabric and I am a tailor. I go down to basics of tailoring and let my imagination run wild. I also do support our local fabric markets in Uganda.’’ Nyesiga said.

The young businessman has laid a stable foundation of customers from both campus and the cooperate world. This year, despite its lows, Nyesiga secured a nomination in 2021 African Youth Awards organized in Nigeria – a recognition of extra-ordinary talent, for a student of his age.

As majority businesses wait for the COVID-19 induced lockdown to be lifted, Oscar Kampala is outdoing himself by tailoring and delivering his classy suits amidst the lockdown.

“When things go back to normal, take some time to check out my shop at Universal House Luwum Street, shop No. F12.” He said.

Oscar Kampala has in the past even dressed BET Award winning singer Eddie Kenzo. Quite a portfolio for someone that was a fresher just last year.

In summary, Oscar has dedicated his time and effort to making men look classy through his suits. A true embodiment of “find your passion, and strive to be the best at it.”
