Electric Weekend as the BET Awards Go Down

The renowned awards that celebrate African Americans and other American minorities in music, acting, sports and other fields of entertainment happened last Sunday in Los Angeles in yet another exciting edition. The BET Awards are one of the most awaited awards of all worldwide. Could this be because they recognize black talent world over?

This year’s ceremony however took many by surprise as regards some wins. Our own African king,  Oluwa Burna that recently gave us a “fire” concert  in Uganda scooped an award that saw many Africans celebrate his win. His mother’s speech grabbed the attention of the world  especially when she said, “Every black person should remember that they were Africans before they became anything else.” That was a major highlight.

Nipsey Hussle was posthumously honored with the Humanitarian Award with his family accepting the honor.

Amidst performances from Cardi B, John Legend, Lizzo,  lil Nas X, Mary J Blidge among others, it was a night of glitz and glamour as these celebrities know how to show up for a red carpet event.
