On Saturday 13th July, Evoke Night made their second upcountry edition after Mbarara in May and hit the Stone City – Jinja for the party under the bridge.
Set up at Forever Resort, just below the new Jinja Bridge, #NeonAtTheBridge2 was an add to the first party by Evoke at the bridge earlier this year with the difference being in theme colours.
This edition was themed blue because of Evoke Season 3 sponsors Club Pilsener that changed everything in outlook and set for the better.
With rivers flowing of Club beers, the revelers that made trips from Kampala for this party were treated to a warm reception from their counterparts based in Jinja.
The highlight of the night was the performance by rap sensation John Blaq after rounds of performances by Evoke talents in dance, rap, beat boxing, spoken word, the Evoke Band and hosted by KFM’s Maritza.
“This is the second time we are in Jinja and every time we get better. We hold these upcountry shows to give people outside of Kampala a taste of the monthly parties we hold in Kampala in a bid to awaken their desires to portray talent that Evoke seeks to give a platform to” Jeremiah Ainebyona, the Lead of Comms at Evoke told MTN Pulse.
He said the next edition of Evoke will be in Kampala at the usual 20K on a date and venue that will be announced.
Friday 31st, is the day that the second episode of Club Pilsener’s Evoke Night will return after a month since the last episode that was at Forest Mall, Lugogo. This episode that has been themed Evoke Midnight Drum will be at the MTN Warehouse and entrance is 20K.
The performances that are lined up for the night include the Evoke band, H2C, Archers dance crew, DJ Ssese, DJ Mackus, DJ Irakoze, Mugaba, Owana Julz and plenty more.
The actual reason for the night however will be to give platform to talents in spoken word, rap and beatboxing and let them compete for a prize of 1M shillings.
After being runner up at the MTN Cypher earlier this year and bagging 500K, rapper Nickarma Nox “Nick” has registered to take part in this competition too. He will be competing with Darius Taurus and Larry in the rap competitions.
On the other side in spoken word and beat boxing, Nickarma will face competition from Grace Mugume a beat boxer and Carolyne (Afroentry), Meddie plus Isabirye Mitch Godfrey in Spoken Word.
Tickets for the show are available on quicket.co.ug and great offers on beer since Club Pilsener are the event sponsors.
Club Pilsener and Fine Media Ltd fulfilled their upcountry pledge of taking Evoke Night to the west and in Mbarara when over the weekend (May 18th), they camped at CPP Gardens in Kiyanja, Mbarara for their Mbarara edition.
Along with a cast of great entertainers like DJ Ssese, Noble the Beat Boxer, Laker and a headline performance by Mbarara’s very own Allan Tonix, Evoke Night ensured that the people of the west got a taste of what has hitherto been a Kampala entertainment concept.
KFM’s Maritza hosted the event and the art and style that was displayed that day can only be recaptured in pictures because no words can describe it.
Revelers drank the night away to endless bottles of Club Pilsener and like everywhere they’ve gone, the song at the end was, let’s do this again.
According to the organisers, Evoke Night is a lifestyle Magazine experienced, not read. They seek to inspire urban youths through entertainment elements including; Rap, Vocal play, Spoken Word, Live DJ, Film, Live Band, Dance and Fashion.
After two seasons of end-of-the-month entertainment shows by Evoke Night in several spots around Kampala and most recently on the new bridge in Jinja, the organizers are ready for the premier of Season 3 at Forest Mall Parking on Friday 26th starting 7pm.
The premier event that has been dubbed “The Rebirth” will according to Jeremiah Ainebyona, the Digital and Comms Lead at Evoke – tell a story of new beginnings and conquer unexplored territory because unlike the previous seasons where talent was given a stage to entertain, this time talent will compete.
“We are a lifestyle Magazine experienced, not read. We inspire urban youths through our entertainment elements including; Rap, Vocal play, Spoken Word, Live DJ, Film, Live Band, Dance and Fashion” Ainebyona said in a statement.
Six participants have been selected from the DJ and Dancers audition and they will battle to take home the 1M cash prize in front of a panel of judges that will hold 60% of their fate. The other 40% will fall to the crowd who will be voting using Club Pilsner (Event Sponsors) bottle tops. The more the bottle tops a contestant collects, the higher their chances.
Evoke Night is a brainchild of Fine Media Ltd and is sponsored by Tuliyo and Club Pilsner. Besides the competitions, it will feature performances by Laker (a poet), Adore, Noble: the beat boxer, Afrikane, Evoke band, DJ Ssese and various Fashion showcases.
Entrance to the event will be 20,000 UGX and 10,000 UGX for Campusers with their School IDs. Tickets can be obtained online from https://olypages.com/
