How did you end up being a musician?

I love music. I fell in love with music since my day one. I used to sing and dance at school and my friends loved it so much. And as a matter of fact, they still do.

Being a writer, on the other hand, is like doing part of what I love because its music that I am jotting down. My friends are my number one supporters.

When did you start doing music?

I started in 2016 and music has given me a platform to spread myself and also inspire a lot of young youth through music, sports among others.

Which type of music do you do?

I do a fusion of AfroBeat and American Pop.

How many songs do you have?

I have three singles out already Your Love, Never Let Go (feat. Lulu K) and What a Feeling (feat. Cmert Keyz) and I’m soon releasing an album with more tracks.

Besides music what else do you do?

I have a charity program called Sekatawa Foundation which runs once every year when I visit Uganda with friends to help out the youth and the needy

We understand you are a student too. How do you balance work and school?

Yes, I do work and go to school. During my weekends is when I get time to do some music because I don’t go to school over the weekend. Besides, it is at that time when I am having piece of mind after hectic days in school and my music helps to relax me.

Tell us about your educational background?

Well, I have moved to a number of schools like Ndejje SSS, Seroma, Mathews High School and also Howard College, and this shouldn’t get you thinking that I was naughty or badly behaved. It was just happening. I was like a tourist of sort. (Laughs)

Where do you see yourself in the next five years?

In five years, I want to be doing World Tours. That is the level of success I want to have achieved at that time and I am working to live that dream.

On which platforms can your fans find your music?

My music can be found on ITunes, Spotify, YouTube and SoundCloud and I will be releasing my first Album on July 26th where in one of the songs on the Album I featured a Ugandan notoriety and award winning gospel artist Exodus.

Pulse Inspirational Wednesday: Be Yourself Without Hiding Under A Pretense Coat

“Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.” —Beyoncé

Many times in our lives we tend to be more interested in what the rest of the world has got to say about us than what we truly think of ourselves.

Without bothering yourself with what someone else thinks of you, why not just tell your story the way it was meant to be told!

I know sometimes we think we aren’t good enough and not because it’s true we are not but because we tend to listen to other people’s opinions about us. About what we should do, how we should live or what we should dress among others.

Because the world we live in is so cruel, we are forced to live a certain criteria just to fit in. We have been influenced by other people’s beliefs and thoughts that we no longer rest our feelings. We have failed to know who we truly are because we constantly try to prove to the rest of the world that we can be like them, we can be beautiful, stylish, outgoing etc yet we should be like us not them.

We have intentionally denied ourselves happiness because we want to impress others.

Do you ever wonder how life would have been if you lived it your way without trying so hard to prove your worth to anyone else, without having to pretend you like something you don’t or without having to pretend to be someone you are not?

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” —Oscar Wilde

No matter what you do or say, people will always find something negative to say about you. You will never impress everyone. Stop trying so hard to impress them and just be you.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson

To be honest, we might not be all that we would wish to be but then this is who we are and we should accept and live that without pretense.

You are enough. There will definitely be somebody younger, smarter or Prettier but there will never be another YOU. Don’t be someone else. You are enough just the way you are.
