Ugandan-British Actor Daniel Kaluuya and The Academy Share Spotlight in The 93rd Oscar Awards

In the past the Oscar Awards have come under intense fire for lack of diversity in their nominees and winners, but this year, the Academy has been applauded for their diverse list of winners and Nominees.

The 93rd Oscars were held recently, and some familiar names walked away with awards while surprise acts got to scoop a few accolades for themselves too.

The Awards organised by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences took place at the prestigious Dolby Theatre and Union Station in Los Angeles, California despite being two months behind schedule. The diverse list of winners included Chloe Zhao for Best Director, H.E.R for Best Song, Daniel Kaluuya for Best Supporting Actor among others.

The least watched Oscar Awards in recent history, with only, 9.8 Million views, turned out to be a celebration of different cultures, exciting prospects and a reward for exceptional talent and jaw dropping performances.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY -Emerald Fennel

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY – The Father

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM – Soul

BEST DOCUMENTARY FILM – My Octopus Teacher

BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY – Colette

BEST INTERNATIONAL FEATURE FILM – Another Round (Denmark)

BEST ORIGINAL SONG – H.E.R  Fight for You – Judas and the Black Messiah
