Women’s Day Special: The Most Outstanding Female Pulsers 2021, So Far

Latest News | 2021-03-08

March, because of the International Women’s Day, is a month where we celebrate the fairer sex. February was for love, and this month is for the back bone of our society – ladies.

At MTN Pulse, we have also been cracking our heads, trying to list and celebrate outstanding Pulsers (young people) as seen by deeds and accomplishments in 2021 thus far. The good news is we came up with something!

Vannessa Nakate

Nakate, if you’re new to her, is a world-renowned Climate Justice activist and the most pronounced in Africa. The fact that she hails from our republic is enough to earn her this slot.

Ms Nakate has recently been included in the 2021 TimeNext100 Most Influential people in the world and that’s no ordinary achievement. She started her activism in 2018 after experiencing unusually high temperatures in Uganda, just like it is now. The rest is history, to be engraved in stone for millions other generations to read.

Tracy Kababiito

Kababiito is into drama, film and entertainment. Ever since her talent in front of the camera thrust her onto NTV the Beat, things have never been the same for her. It has been upwards forever.

She graduated with a Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication from Mukono based UCU and is now currently killing it on television. She is so focused, Hollywood is already calling. (I know this, they’re not calling literally but they’re calling.)

At the moment, she is the star of the new TV Show “Sanyu” that has received so many positive reviews. And that means only one thing, she is killing it.

Phiona Nyamutoro

Nyamutoro, if you’ve been following politics, was recently elected the National Female Youth MP. That means that she traversed all the districts of Uganda seeking support and that she will be representing all of them in Parliament come May.

Hailing from Nebbi District in West Nile, Nyamutoro is a former Guild Vice President at Makerere University. She is a member of the NRM and has recently vowed to ensure that the 2021-2026 term be an era of transformation for the youths with careful focus on the girl child. That’s why she made our list today!

Mariam Iculet Arikosi

Once again, if you’ve been following politics and current affairs, you should know something about Iculet Arikosi – the newly elected Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST).

Ms Arikosi is only the second female to be elected to that office after NBS TV news anchor Sheila Nduhukire. And that took a full nine years to realize.

“Baby girl is out here clearing paths for girl children of today and the future and you want to ignore that? Please.” A female student at university recently said.

Baby Gloria

Gloria Mulungi Ssenyonjo alias Baby Gloria completes our list today! The 19 year old singer and socialite hosted the 2020 Virtual MTN Pulse Buzz Teeniez Awards, and rather successfully cemented her place in the Showbiz Industry.

Just last week, she was unveiled as the Victoria University Uganda brand ambassador and commands a following of over 500K across social media. And for emphasis, she is 19.

I don’t have anything else to say, I need some water.

As part of the celebration today, MTN Uganda together with Project Girls for Girls will host a webinar today at 11AM, under the Topic – Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 World. The webinar will be featuring Ms. Yolanda Cuba the MTN Group Regional Vice President for Southern and Eastern Africa. Catch the webinar on YouTube and Facebook @mtnug
